OCMA (Orange County Museum of Art)

California Modern is the first exhibition in OCMA’s series Collection Histories/Collective Memories which offers a comprehensive and interdisciplinary examination of the permanent collection and the institution’s contribution to the story of California art.

This exhibition charts the artistic developments and groundbreaking exhibitions presented at the museum during the past 40 years. Featuring important works from the permanent collection, such as Stanton MacDonald-Wright’s early color study (Untitled, Vase of Flowers, 1926) and Lee Bul’s futuristic cyborg creature all in white (Supernova, 2000), California Modern provides insight into the ideas, styles, and forms of art that have emerged in California over the last 100 years.
