Join OCMA as we celebrate the first anniversary of our new building designed by Thom Mayne of Morphosis Studio. In honor of our incredible inaugural year, the museum will present a weeklong series of events and activities. Enjoy live performances, artmaking activities, artist films, and more! Admission is free and everyone is welcome!

Celebrate our first anniversary at our beautiful Costa Mesa location with a full day of events! Start the morning with a meditative sound bath at 11:00 AM, a special pancake brunch and mimosa menu from our café Verdant and sweet treats from the delectable Crepes Bonaparte food truck from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM.

Swing into the afternoon with art activities from 1:00 – 3:00 PM accompanied by live acoustic guitar music. Experience an immersive dance performance on our outdoor Sculpture Terrace by Backhausdance at 4:00 PM inspired by artist Jennifer Guidi’s exhibition. Bring the whole family for a day of art-filled adventures!

Kick off the evening’s festivities with a specialty cocktails starting at 5:00 PM where family, friends, and neighbors can meet up to enjoy beautiful sunset skies from our outdoor Upper Plaza. Turn up the volume and let loose with our final Big Night Out dance party of the season with KCRW DJs Francesca Harding and Valida from 5:00 – 9:00 PM. Let’s toast to a fantastic year!

Backhausdance Performance: Layering

Experience an immersive performance of a new, original dance work with a site-specific piece choreographed by Jennifer Backhaus in collaboration with the dancers and created especially for the Orange County Museum of Art. Designed to utilize the museum’s architecture, experience this one-of-a-kind performance inspired by outdoor sculpture Kundalini Rising, 2023, a highlight from the exhibition Jennifer Guidi: And so it is.
