Weekend Studio: Cyanotype Stories
March 1, 2026, 3:00 PM–5:00 PM
Conceptual artist Sophie Calle presents private, provocative, and often humorous stories from her own life by combining photographs and text. Inspired by Calle’s work, participants will experiment with cyanotype sun prints, an early photographic process. After creating silhouetted prints of small personal items, they will add words that tell a story or anecdote about themselves and the object in their print. Visitors can explore Calle’s work in our exhibition Sophie Calle: Overshare.
Tickets are $10 or free for residents of Costa Mesa. Advance registration is required, and space is limited. Overflow seating may be available with modified materials. Registrants that arrive more than 15 minutes past the start time cannot be guaranteed entry.
Weekend Studio workshops invite artists of all experience levels to engage with current exhibitions through creative, hands-on activities. Workshops involve materials that are suitable for ages 6 and up only, and all families must sit together for the duration of the program.
This workshop is made possible by the City of Costa Mesa.
